Golden Retriever
The Goldie is perhaps the most famous dog breed of all. Renowned as a family dog, it is happy with all people, big and small. They are friendly, happy, calm dogs, very tolerant with children, and very devoted and relaxed with their family. They are also a big, well built breed, and while apartment life is possible, would prefer a home with a garden.
This Retriever is reasonably easy to train, and a good choice for an inexperienced dog owner. If you make training fun, they will be eager to learn. They have moderate energy needs, and require at least an hour walking a day, plus playtime, ideally in a garden or park. Grooming needs are moderate, and a weekly brush of their thick coat is recommended. A typical lifespan is 10-13 years.
