While famed for its mostly hairless coat, within the same litter can be born fully coated (powderpuff) pups too. This very unique, and often divisive, breed is happy, playful, affectionate and very much a perfect companion dog. They are well suited to apartments, but being delicate and gentle, they are better in a home with older children.
The Chinese Hairless is generally easy to train, but can be stubborn, so patience and persistence is required. A couple of 30 minute walks is fine, with some play at home too. With grooming, there are different hairstyles possible, with varying degrees of maintenance. Weekly bathing is necessary for a hairless dog to keep the skin healthy. A typical lifespan is 10-14 years.
