This is a big, strong and formidable dog. But when bred and raised properly it is also warm, happy, loving and quite playful. They tend to be very loyal and protective, and very obedient to their owners. While good and sensible with kids, because of their size they are better suited to a home with older children.
Both intelligent and eager to please, this is an easier breed to train, and they often enjoy learning. Relaxed in the home, the Italian Mastiff does have good exercise needs. Two good walks and a plenty of play each day keeps them healthy, and ensures good muscle tone. Short coated, this breed has low grooming needs. A typical lifespan is 9-12 years.
