I've been breeding dogs for 7 years, since 2015. I am a member of the Russian Kynological Federation.
As a lot of other kids do, I’d been dreaming about a dog in my childhood. At the age of 12, I got an Eastern-European shepherd, born from the working dogs. She was an incredible girl and manifestation of all of the best about this breed. That was the time when I started to gain an interest in dogs’ behaviour and psychology. I started reading Konrad Lorenz’s books; in adulthood, Karen Pryor and Susan Garrett joined the list. At that point, Jack Russel Terriers appeared in my life. With these dogs, I discovered such disciplines as obedience, agility and dog-show. In 2014 I registered a kennel club. In 2019 my husband bought the first Yakutian Laika — Aikhal. He bought him for himself, but since at that time I was in heavy depression because of my favourite dog’s death, I saw so much love in that fluffy, blue-eyed creature that it warmed my heart. Doesn’t mean Yakutian Laikas cure depression, but maybe there is some truth to that. They are wonderful, beautiful, quiet and calm dogs with strong psychics. For hundreds of years the breed developed as sled dogs, but the reality was that they also accompanied their owners on a hunt, protected cattle from predators and were good friends to the children. Such conditions formed an ideal companion dog. Nowadays these dogs live in houses and flats together with cats, rabbits and other small pets just fine. They are very careful and tolerant with children. A lot of Yakutian Laikas have hunting instincts that could be either developed or redirected towards other activities like frisbee or agility — the choice is up to an owner. Some laikas even happen to have a herding instinct, which is probably caused by having Samoyeds among their ancestors. The cynologist community will probably never stop arguing about what dogs’ traits are important for breeding. Each breeder has its own requirements for dogs when it comes to selection. Meeting breed’s standards and having good health test results is undoubtedly important, but everything else is a personal preference. Some breeders aim to create an ideal working dog, others dream about a perfect supershow dog (not gonna lie, I do as well 😊). For me, though, it’s about a dog’s ability to be a great family member. It means that such a dog is going to have a huge amount of love and trust towards people from birth. It never shows aggression towards kids (though I also demand my kids to treat dogs with respect as well). It behaves well at the vet and doesn’t have phobias. If a dog doesn’t meet any of those requirements, it won’t participate in inbreeding. I follow that principle because you can always stop attending dog shows, you can always leave dog sports for different reasons, but your dog will always be a family member. My priorities, however, don’t get in a way of my love and respect towards the show and working dogs. A professional handler works with my dogs. All of them have a successful show career and titles from different dog exhibitions, including high tier ones. Some dogs have won unique titles that are being awarded only once per year — Junior Moscow Winner 2020 and Junior Moscow Winner 2021. Yakutian Laika is an incredibly beautiful breed and an aesthetical pleasure for everybody who appreciates the beauty of nature. Hence why I call my laikas «My beautiful beasts». Not able to visit my kennel? I understand, it may not always be possible to see your puppy in person before you buy, especially if you live far away. That is why you can also use the convenient option to pay through Wuuff.

The Right Choice

Choosing a puppy is an important life decision. It’s not always easy to know where to start.

Wuuff is here to help you do it right.

KNOW THE BASICS

  • Be sure that you have done your research well and have chosen a dog breed that matches your lifestyle. Are you active? Do you have a back yard? Small kids? Allergies? Planning to show the dog? These are some of the questions that will help you determine the right dog breed for you.
  • Familiarize yourself with your chosen breeds’ health issues. Select a puppy from parents that already had their appropriate health screenings.
  • Look closely at both the parents and their show results, as these are not only important if you want to show or breed, but they also prove the sire or dam must be a great looking example of the breed otherwise they wouldn’t win. This will give you a good idea of what the puppy will look like as an adult.
  • The way puppies look at 6-8 weeks of age will give you the clearest idea of what their shape and proportions will be when fully grown.

CHOOSE WISELY

Wuuff.dog provides all the info in one place for the right puppy choice. When looking at all the lovable puppies on Wuuff, consider the following for a confident decision:

  • Number and quality of reviews about the breeder
  • Level of detail given about the puppy and its parents
  • Health Screenings and Show Results of the parents
  • What exactly is included in the price (vaccinations, deworming, microchip, etc.)

If you like one or more particular puppies, Save your favorite dogs in your Wish List.

Then talk to the breeder, ask any questions and make your puppy choice.

GET EXCITED

Getting your puppy should be an exciting and smooth experience. This is why we make all the information available in one place… eliminating confusion and bringing you confidence.
